Medical Oncology
At Piedmont Oncology Specialists we specialize in the study and treatment of cancer. In addition to cancer care we also treat patients with diseases of the blood.
Our physicians are also involved with a variety of clinical trials working with Presbyterian Cancer Center in their multi-specialty clinic, Tumor Boards, as well as the Blumenthal Cancer Center. By working with different clinical trials in many cases we are able to offer a wider range of treatment options to our patients, including many drugs not available except in trial studies.
On-site infusion/therapy centers
We provide intravenous, or infusion therapy services to our patients. Infusion therapy is a combination of a nutrient, antibiotic, chemotherapy, or other drugs in solution, and the intravenous administration of the product.
Our certified oncology nurses are trained to work with both Port-a-cath and PICC lines. Each of these medical devices may be used to administer chemotherapy and to draw blood for testing.
The physicians at Piedmont Oncology Specialists are experienced with Bone Marrow Aspiration, and in most cases this procedure will be performed in the office.
Each of our facilities have an on site CLIA certified laboratory reducing the need to send our patients outside the facility for testing.
Piedmont Oncology Specialists is one of the first practices to offer Genetic Testing for Hereditary Cancers such as Colon, Breast and Ovarian Cancers.
